ON THE MARKET: ROTHESAY, NB

3188 Rothesay Road, Rothesay, New Brunswick: $749,000

I’ve always loved this house and the property on which it sits (despite its 70s inspired, peanut butter cup colouring). I’ve never been inside of it, so I was really excited to see it on Saint John realtor Jeff Kitchen’s website yesterday!

There are a lot of homes I admire from the exterior, but my particular tastes are rarely met when I see the inside of a place. 3188 Rothesay Road, however, is near perfection. My sister and husband can attest to my obsession – I couldn’t stop talking about it last night!

The house has been updated, but it’s retained so much of its original character. And though it’s large (over 3,200 square feet), it looks warm, cosy and inviting.

One of the reasons I love living in New Brunswick is the low cost of living. While this would be considered a pricey piece of real estate around here, this is what it will get you in Toronto, Vancouver, or even Downtown Halifax.

See? You can live like royalty here for a fair price!

Below, photos of my Rothesay dream home.

What you can’t see in these photos is the private, 1.3 acre lot, the mature cedar hedge that runs the length of the road.

The classical American front door is one of my favourite features.

There are custom updates all through the house.

Including in the kitchen!

Great sight lines from into the sunroom.

A cosy little breakfast nook - the perfect spot for reading the morning paper with a hot cup of tea!

Love the hanging baskets.

Brand new appliances, and an oven with what looks like multiple heating drawers.

A quick peek into the lovely sunroom.

The current owner's furniture perfectly fills the large formal dining room.

The formal living room is an interesting layout. Furniture placement would likely require a lot of thought.

A library for cuddling up with a blanket and book.

Wainscoting runs up the main staircase ...

... and continues into the landing at the top of the stairs.

The landing leads out to a second-floor deck,

that would get lots of sunlight as it's exposed to the South.

Such a sweet room. But I'm a sucker for wallpaper.

Subway tiles line much of the upstairs bathroom walls.

A dressing room just off the master bedroom.

The newly renovated master bathroom.

A second staircase, running from the kitchen up to the master bedroom.

An arched gateway leading to the pool area.

And yet more outdoor seating!
