THE SHEPHERD'S HUT
I had never heard of Sheperd's Huts until I came across an article profiling this sweet mobile nook that looks like its straight out of a fairy-tale.
An exterior look at the Shepherd's Hut on interior designer Katherine Pooley's Cotswold estate.
Traditionally, these humble huts housed a bed, a small wood burning stove and a medicine cabinet, so that shepherds could tend to their flock during lambing season.
The hut's muted interior features hand-painted wall fabric and cherished family antiques.
Today, the huts are much less a place to rest one's weary head after a long day in the elements, and used more as cosy retreats for artists, writers, book lovers, or simply for those looking for a quiet place to nap, reflect, or sip a hot cup of tea.
Pooley wanted the hut to function as a space for children to play and adults to unwind.
The above hut belongs to interior designer Katharine Pooley and quietly lives on the property of her Oxfordshire, UK home. When she designed the small space, she kept in mind that it would be a place where both children and adults would play and relax.
The hut sits in seclusion behind the main family house.
For good measure, a look at the spectacular main house Ms. Pooley's Cotswold estate.
The Oxfordshire home was recently updated by the designer and is elegant but family-friendly.
