A COTSWOLD'S COTTAGE IN BROOKLYN

For years I’ve been scouring design magazines and sites so I find it very exciting when I fall in love with the work of an interior designer or architect I’ve never heard of before.

Most recently I came across mother/daughter New York-based interior design firm McGrath II. Suzanne and Lauren McGrath have been working together since 2010 and have since designed some really spectacular spaces. Their work is light, airy, clean and elegant. They boldly mix modern and traditional elements to create fresh, highly livable, beautiful interiors.

This Greek Revival Brownstone, featured in Architectural Digest and designed by McGrath II, has been injected with the comfort of an English cottage – a definite departure from the way most Brooklyn Heights brownstones are typically styled. As a result, this is a totally fresh take on the English cottage.

Warm wooden antiques, tufted sofas dressed in welcoming plaid and floral fabrics, wall sconces and pretty wallpapers create a relaxed and homey environment fit for the Cotswold’s but comfortably nestled in the city.
